I want to go to… Whitstable

About a year ago, my boyfriend and I took a bus into Whitstable from his student accommodation at Kent University. It was the most blustery day but the streets were full with people, bustling in and out of shops, eating fish and chips and strolling along the pebble beach. I was in my element with all of the antique and charity shops! We found a lovely little antique and junk shack on the front full of wonderful finds, backed onto what looked like a carpentry and art studio. After some rooting around, I found these gorgeous little enamel pots just oozing vintage charm for about £3 for the pair. I now use them for hair scarves and other pieces that fit nowhere else in my room. There were many more shops to be rooting around up the street too, including a real antique shop off of the main street and a beach shed full of beautiful pieces. There’s also a fantastic book shop up the road where I picked up a few paperback classics and an old fashioned toy shop where I ambitiously bought a harmonica in the expectation to learn! Whitstable is also a cracking place for buying reclaimed and vintage furniture, with various inexpensive collectors along the main street. It’s about time I went back! I’ve heard there’s a bi-monthly fair in the church hall, so that’s my excuse! Here’s the details and I’ll see you there:

The Seaside Brocante Fair At Whitstable
